Great projects begin with quality research and that’s exactly what the developers did with The Tradition-Prestonwood, North Texas’ premier senior living community. The amenities focus on comfort and safety while promoting social interaction, quality service, excellent dining, as well as opportunities for exercise and entertainment. Two central courtyards provide outdoor extensions of the apartments, offering places to relax amid lush landscapes, cascading waterfalls, fountains and sheltered pavilions.

Well thought out with no detail left to chance, the developers knew their audience well. Resident parking was placed underground for easy access and two interior courtyards were built for personal security and comfort. Indoor amenities include ThermoTech sound insulation for additional privacy, individually controlled AC/heat systems, thermal windows, a movie theater, library, indoor pool, and fitness amenities. Add in the community’s five-star dining and you can see why seniors love it here.

Using TXI’s TruGro to amend the soils in the interior courtyards helped facilitate the construction process. Because the material is lightweight, it was easy to blow the expanded shale into place using pneumatic blower trucks. The soil amendments contained equal proportions of expanded shale, topsoil and compost and once blown in, they were tilled into the existing heavy clay soil. Blended amendments of this type work wonders in clay because they introduce air into the soil, help reduce compaction, moderate soil temperature extremes, absorb moisture, and provide additional soil nutrients. By enhancing the treatment at this stage, the landscape is allowed to flourish throughout the year.
